surgical techniques

Our promise to you is to offer more. That's especially prevalent in our performance. Our surgical team practices the most advanced surgical techniques available today and, whenever possible, utilizes minimally invasive spine surgery to speed recovery, lower risk, reduce pain, and prevent damage to healthy tissue. We conduct a thorough examination and supervise extensive testing for each of our patients to determine which, if any, of these procedures would be beneficial for them.

Microdiscectomy

During a microdiscectomy, or microdecompression spine surgery, a small portion of the bone over the nerve root and/or disc material from under the nerve root is removed to relieve neural impingement and provide more room for the nerve to heal. A microdiscectomy is typically performed in response to a lumbar herniated disc.

Many patients are able to resume work and daily activities soon after surgery. In some cases, our doctors may recommend a rehabilitation program after surgery, which might include physical therapy and home exercises.
